Gonzales Healthcare Systems Receives New MRI Unit     Pictured at right is the magnet for Memorial Hospital’s new MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machine. This magnet weighs approximately 8,800 lbs. and when completely installed should weigh a total of 11,000 lbs. Originally shipped from Germany, this medical device required a 750-ton crane to lower it into the new expansion area of Memorial Hospital. Leon King, Director of Radiology Services, stated "This new machine contains much more software than the MRI previously being used by the hospital. Its new capabilities will really broaden the scope of services we can provide the community.”
