“I found the perfect place for me and my baby.”
—Kristin Gaither
A few months after moving to Gonzales in May 2018, Kristin Gaither found out she was pregnant. “I knew I needed to find a hospital, so I did some word-of-mouth research and heard some very good things about Gonzales Healthcare Systems,” Kristin says. “I took a tour of the obstetrics department and really appreciated the size of the private suites, which are designed for labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum. I was also impressed that they have Bluetooth fetal monitoring. It wirelessly monitored my contractions and the baby’s heartbeat, so I was free to move and walk around during my delivery.”
Dr. Rikki Baldwin was Kristin’s obstetrician. “She’s fantastic,” Kristin says. “She always takes time to answer my questions and listen to my concerns. And during the delivery, the nurses were so attentive. They were great coaches too, always encouraging me and telling me I could do this.”
At 3:50 p.m. on April 10, 2019, Caleb Ray Gaither was born at Gonzales Healthcare Systems. Kristin’s three other children were delivered at big-city hospitals in San Antonio and Corpus Christi. “The care our family received at Gonzales Healthcare Systems was so much more personal,” Kristin says. “At the other hospitals, they nurses were often talking among themselves. But here at Gonzales Healthcare Systems, the nurses were really tuned in to our needs. They were always there for me and my baby.”
